Increase Height Naturally: Add Up To 2 Inches
For a lot of people, being tall is something desired. Athletes want to be taller to excel in their sport. These include swimming, basketball, volleyball, and track and field. Others simply believe that being taller makes them look better – to the point that those with sufficient height go on to have successful careers as ramp and commercial models.
In most cultures, height – or the lack thereof – has often been the source of insecurity and self-esteem. The association of confidence with being tall is one that a majority of people believe in. Being smaller than most give some people a feeling on inferiority – that others literally and figuratively look down upon them.
Whatever the reason, increasing height is something of interest to most.
To increase height naturally, one needs to be willing to adhere to the right diet and do specific exercises to make sure one achieves the maximum growth potential available. A regular exercise program makes the body release HGH or Human Growth Hormone more and more. This encourages the body to grow more than when it is in sedentary mode.
In exercising, one needs to keep in mind that the body’s core needs to be developed, strengthened, and given flexibility. The core is constituted by the abdominals, the obliques or side muscles, and the back muscles. These form the strength foundation that helps the spine and allows for height growth.
Due to the constant daily standing, sitting, and walking that everyone does, the spine is subjected to constant compression that presses the spine down decreasing its length in the process. To counteract this, an important exercise is hanging.
All one needs is a pole or bar to hang from where an individual can hang down without the toes touching the floor. Gripping the pole, gently step off a chair or stool and keep hanging for 30 to 45 seconds at a time or as long as one feels comfortable. Make sure not to jerk into the hanging position so as not to jolt the spine with the weight of the body. Hanging decompresses the spine effectively and allows cartilage between vertebrae to develop better. This exercise can already increase height simply by regaining lost inches that spine compression has done.
Yoga and Tai Chi also offer numerous stretching exercises that encourage proper posture that help increase height. Slouching, humpback posture, and forward rounded shoulders all cause individuals to actually stand shorter than their optimal height. By exercising to allow for growth of muscles, proper posture brought by these stretching yoga exercises also increases height naturally.
In strengthening the core muscles, height is also encouraged by supporting the spine with muscle. The spine is then supported to be as naturally straight and upright. Exercises that strengthen the abdominals and obliques include crunches and leg raises. Keep in mind to properly stretch muscles in combination with the exercise.
For the back, exercises such as seated rowing, cobra, and reverse crunches are beneficial. Developing the back muscles, in combination with abdominals, surround the spine with muscle that further allow for better growth.
A combination of stretching, strengthening, and aerobic low-impact exercises contributes significantly to adding height and maintaining an upright posture that makes one taller.
